Mr Joshua Chu co-authored an article on the use of technology in the legal industry for Hong Kong Lawyer and Lexology

2021-01-10

Our Consultant Mr Joshua Chu and Mr Paul Lowenstein, Queen’s Counsel of Twenty Essex, have co-authored the article entitled “When the Legal Industry Meets Technology (Part 2)” for the January 2021 issue of the Hong Kong Lawyer, the official journal of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

In this article, the lawyers who had conducted CMOC Sales & Marketing Ltd v Persons Unknown and 30 Ors. and Hwang Joon Sang and Anor. v Golden Electronics Inc. and Anor. shared their respective first-hand accounts in how they introduced a new mode of digital service procedures to their respective jurisdictions.

The use of encrypted data rooms for service of legal documents had been described as “an innovative feature of the litigation” and it is the hopes of many that this landmark change in legal proceedings will bring about wider technological adaptation with all Judiciaries across various Common Law jurisdictions.

The article was also republished on Lexology, a platform of comprehensive source of international legal updates, analysis and insights.

To read the article, please visit the Hong Kong Lawyer website or the Lexology platform.
