Mr Joshua Chu and Mr Michael Szeto co-authored an article on issues of robots and cybersecurity for The Hong Kong Lawyer and Lexology

2021-02-01

Our Consultant Mr Joshua Chu and Partner Mr Michael Szeto have recently co-authored an article entitled “Love, Cybersecurity & Hacked-Robots” for the February 2021 edition of the Hong Kong Lawyer, the official journal of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

The article explored how robot manufacturers can potentially be held liable for cybersecurity manslaughter (akin to medical manslaughter) if their platforms are hacked by mal-actors to perpetrate capital crime.

Again, we are reminded that without vigilance robots can be exploited to attack humanity when humans are at their most vulnerable state.

To read the article, please visit the Hong Kong Lawyer website or the Lexology Platform.

The article has since gone viral overseas and has been cited and reported in a number of international news outlets with many calling for greater attention upon the subject of cybersecurity in product design.
